There are basically two types of injections that are used, either on their own, or in a combination.

The first one, is the one that most people have heard about, and that is "botox". Botox is a treatment that is used in very small quantities, to affect the muscles in the face, and soften the appearance of wrinkles. It is particularly effective for the frown lines on the forehead and over the bridge of the nose, and for crow`s feet.It can also be used for other problems, such as excessive sweating (hyperhidrossis)., this can be a particular problem in the armpit area, and for those affected it can be miserable, always having to feel self conscious, and have frequent changes of clothing trough out the day, not just in warm weather. The effects of this type of injection usually last around 4 months, the range is usually between 3-6 months. The effect is not permanent, so if their were to be an unwanted effect, it will wear off. With repeated treatments the effect often lasts longer.

The other type of treatment is dermal fillers, there are a wide vairiety of branded products within this range. These used to be known as collagen injections, and the early ones used to be permanent or semi permanent. Now the products used are much safer,and are based on a naturally occurring protein, so reactions are extremely rare. This type of treatment is useful for deeper wrinkles, especially in the brow line, but also the lower part of the face, especially those deep creases that happen between the nose and the lips. This type of filler treatment can be used to improve the appearance of lips, making them fuller, and defining the lip line.

Muscle relaxing injections or "botox" are small injections of a naturally occurring protein, that when injected in small quantities into the muscle, cause the muscle to relax.

This has a beneficial effect cosmetically when used in the muscles of the face that cause wrinkles that are the result of frowning. The upper part of the face may respond particularly well to treatment in this way, reducing or softening the appearance of frown lines, forehead creases and crow`s feet. This treatment can also be used effectively in other parts of the face and neck, to enhance the appearance.

The smoothing effect of the treatment can last for as long as 4 months, and may last longer when several treatments have been given.
The use of this type of treatment also helps stop the habit of frowning, and so stop the wrinkles from appearing, and stop them getting worse, as the muscles are relaxed.

Skin shape and volume is largely determined by the levels of hyaluronic acid, which decreases with age.

This type of treatment helps soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles by hydrating the skin and increasing the levels of hyaluronic acid that is within the skin.
The skin is injected with small quantities, lifting and softening wrinkles. Deeper and more severe lines can be filled by deeper injections, that will have a lifting and softening effect.

This type of treatment is particularly effective for redefining the lip border, and enhancing the fullness of the lip shape.

The laser can be used to reduce the signs of aging, by improving the appearance of the skin and shortening the collagen fibres within the skin. The skin after a course of photorejuvenation, will have a more even skin tone, small blemishes will be removed, and facial redness will be reduced.

The laser treatment stimulates the cells within the skin to produce collagen and elastin. The skin will appear tighter and more radiant after treatment. The skin pores will be reduced in size and wrinkles and fine lines diminshed.

Laser treatment for acne is a fast effective treatment for acne, and can rapidly improve the skin`s appearance.Light pulses are delivered through the skin's surface and targets the acne bacteria called porphyrin. These porphyrins are photosensitive and when targeted by light, generate singlet oxygen, which kill the acne bacteria that cause inflammation. The average treatment course is 4-6 treatments, each taking only 20 minutes, although more severe acne will require more treatments.

Immediately following the procedure patients may experience mild to moderate redness and swelling that will fade in as little as a couple hours to as much as a few days.

While outcomes vary from person to person a prospective clinical study indicates that over 90% of patients treated experience marked reduction in acne lesions.

The laser offers an effective treatment for pigmented marks such as age or liver spots, as well as simple freckles. This treatment will give you a more even and refreshed skin tone. Often a course of skin peel treatment can be recommended first, to optomise the effectiveness of the laser.

Certain drugs can cause this to be a problem e.g. anabolic steroids, progesterone and metaclopromide Laser hair removal can be a lasting solution for this problem, and be less painful than electrolysis, or repeated waxing.

Laser can treat larger areas faster than can electrolysis and Thermolysis.

Most effective on dark hairs in fair-skinned people.

Multiple treatments may be necessary for long-term hair destruction.

The laser system is designed to remove unwanted hair through selective absorption of an intense light pulse at wavelength that will be absorbed by the hair follicle selectively, and not the surrounding tissue.

The laser treatments that are used at Bodygenesis are a very sucessful treatment. The laser light passes harmlessly through the superficial layers of skin and target the redness underneath. This results in a heating of the red blemish or vein resulting in its collapse and subsequent removal by the body.

A course of treatments may be recommended depending on the severity of the problem. Small isolated areas such as small spider veins usually disappear with one treatment.

Lips are an essential part of who you are, they are important for expression, whether you are smiling, pouting, laughing or kissing. Lips are also a sensual part of the face. It is important that you love the way your lips are.

You can decide what you would like to change about them. You can choose to make your lips fuller, and have a more attractive contour. You can also have a more defined lip line. These effects can be achieved by using natural dermal fillers. The products that are used will last from 6-12 months, and are safe and natural. This treatment can be done with the use of an anaesthetising cream or a local anaesthetic injection. The treatment takes about 30 minutes and the wrinkles will look reduced immediately. Initially there is sometimes some redness and swelling, that normally settles by the next day.

The number of sessions and the amount of product that is needed in order to achieve the effect that you want to see, can vary from 1-3 treatments, and this will be evident at your first treatment.

The products that are used are very safe, and extremely well tolerated, so that there is no need for allergy testing before the treatment.
If you suffer from cold sores it is advisable to use antiviral creams at the time of treatment, to minimise the possibility of a recurrence.
